Paul Dunn
I had the honour to meet and interview Paul Dunn, 96 years old war veteran, entomologist and ceramic jewellery artist born in Tulsa (Oklahoma) who lived most of his life in Arizona before moving to Capalbio 40 years ago. Before creating ceramic jewellery he contributed to the restoration of the church of Capalbio by creating the rose windows. When I asked Paul what is art for him he answered it’s a question that has no answer.. Art is something which is too beautiful to be described. We passed all afternoon together. He told me about his childhood in Arizona, when, as a child, he was creatively attracted by insects, colours and nature. He told me about his experience during the II world war. Today, the bracelet he creates inside his small laboratory in the historic city centre of Capalbio are all around the world. Cape Town, Taipei, Tokio, London, New York, Berlin.. If you have the chance to be in Capalbio visit Paul. This meeting is something I’ll remember forever. Paul gifted me the unique bracelet you‘ll see in the video but most of all I want to thank him for demonstrated me that beauty has no boundaries.
