Our experience at JCK 2024!

Innovation, education, forecasting, talents, inclusion: JCK 2024 was the place to be and where the whole jewelry world gathered together.

Considered the “Super Bowl” of the jewelry industry, JCK continues to set the tone, the trends, and the mood for the jewelry industry for the year to come.

Some numbers:

30,000 industry professionals from all facets of the jewelry industry.

17,300 attendees

Over 1,900 exhibitors in over 20 different neighborhoods

Where and when? All at The Venetian and The Venetian Expo for JCK from May 31 – June 3, with the AGTA and GEMS pavilion, the Hong Kong pavilion and JCK Talks opening a day earlier on May 30. Luxury welcomed retailers from May 29 – June 3 and was open exclusively to invited retailers on May 29 and May 30.

In the words of Sarin Bachmann, Group Vice President of RX’s jewelry portfolio and event leader for JCK: “This year’s JCK was another that surpassed all expectations. Even in times when there is uncertainty in the jewelry industry, JCK proves once again to be the place the entire industry gathers to source products, unveil new technologies and strategies, learn, discuss, network and place orders for the rest of the selling season. There was a noticeable shift in the energy of the industry once they arrived at JCK and Luxury and the enthusiasm on the show floor prevailed and left the industry on a very positive note.”

Some of the most interesting experience we lived at JCK:

TALENTS

JCK was the place to be to scout new talents!

Among the talents we discovered at JCK: Guzema Jewelry, a brand arose from the vision of its founder Valeriya Guzema who creates jewelry that can be adapted to each size with an inclusive inspiration that combines clever solutions. https://www.instagram.com/reel/C8C-xXrISTc/?igsh=MWtobmM1YzZ4ZjR5ZA==

María Blondet is a Porto Rico-based artist we had the pleasure to interview at JCK 2024! Her concept is fresh and new as she creates stackable rings: you can mix, stack and match them to create your own piece that, according to the words of the artist: “expresses joy for life as well as your own personality”. Mazza Company is a NYC-based company that applies diamonds on sneakers, sunglasses or anything you can imagine. This company, founded by the young brothers from the Shah Family is also experimenting AI while searching for new solutions to make the jewelry industry more inclusive and open to the new generations. You can see Mazza featured in one of the publications we made at the show! https://www.instagram.com/reel/C72y3BDPtaR/?igsh=MXF3ZDNpNzVoYnFjeA==

The Gjepc stand was another incredible discovery: here we were able to see the jewelry realized by the young designers from India who made creations with alternative materials. You can see jewelry created with seeds, money, buttons and much more in our post! https://www.instagram.com/p/C7vJJOTRMNY/?igsh=MW9hemFtZmh2ZTM5NA==

We also enjoyed the Italian pavilion where we were able to discover Sanalitro: a Milan-based jewelry brand born from the vision of its founder, gems cutter for more than 50 years! https://www.instagram.com/reel/C7raS0mxYv2/?igsh=NTlta2s1NTg0aXY4

TRENDS

Here’s some of the trends we noticed!

MIX OF WHITE&YELLOW: at JCK we noticed an increasing interest in mixing white gold with yellow gold. If this was something considered wrong for the jewelry etiquette in the past, today becomes 100% trendy!

USE OF PLATINUM: the industry is using more and more platinum as a valid alternative to silver and to white gold. From our interviews we understood customers love it!

USE OF ALTERNATIVE MATERIALS: the industry keeps experimenting with new and alternative materials placed alongside precious metals (ceramic, wood, plexiglass) and this..is…FUN!

UNSUAL GEMSTONES: at JCK we noticed how much unusual stones are loved and appreciated by the market. While in the past customers were looking for perfection, today they are looking for uniqueness! Here’s some of the most unusual gemstones we have scouted at the show: https://www.instagram.com/p/C7nythjOAaB/?igsh=OXJpd2sxeGxjYzFy

EDUCATION

To us the future is all about culture and thanks to JCK we were able to learn from all the professionals we met as well as the conferences and talks we attended!

The Sustainability Summit at JCK brought together innovators, leaders and advocates for positive change to discuss a more sustainable future for the jewelry industry.

Sustainability Summit by JCK 2024

JCK offered an incredible agenda of talks through the JCK Talks education program that spanned across four days with content organized into tracks. Newly debuted Tracks for 2024, included Your Development, Business Management and Sales.

The “Social Stage,” was back after its impressive debut at JCK 2023. This year, Friday’s topics focused on content, Saturday’s highlighted data, and Sunday’s showed the how-to’s of bringing it all into practice. Content creators and influencers who have mastered the art of engagement led multiple sessions at The Social Stage

Both JCK and Luxury continued to feature inspiring Keynotes with Luxury Keynotes Kyle Scheele, sponsored by Natural Diamond Council, and Henry Winkler, sponsored by De Beers Group. JCK’s Keynote was a tremendous success with every seat full for Sugar Ray Leonard who took the stage with a recap of his career and lessons learned on “The Power to Win” sponsored by Platinum Guild International USA.

INCLUSIVITY

Thanks to the inclusive spirit of JCK we felt that each one was appreciated and valorized at its best! In fact, JCK continued to celebrate the cultivation of inclusion and diversity throughout the event, with a notable presence of emerging BIPOC designers, brand features, dedicated JCK Talks sessions focused on DEI topics, and specialized education sessions. The WJA continued to host their Generating Community Impact Breakfast which focused on disability inclusion in the jewelry and watch industry. Emerging designers with The Black in Jewelry Coalition (BIJC) once again were featured in the Design Collective at JCK, thanks to grant funding from the JCK Industry Fund, providing attendees with an opportunity to connect with six Black-owned brands exhibiting jewelry and loose gemstones.

We thank JCK for this unforgettable edition that ended with JCK Rocks at TAO Beach: an epic night and a huge success with GRAMMY nominated Flo Rida who engaged with the audience and brought the positive moods of all who attended to an even higher level.
