Donna Jewel flew to discover trends and young talents in India, more precisely in Mumbai, to visit IIJS Premiere 2024, the jewelry and precious stones fair held at the JIO World Convention Centre and celebrating its fortieth anniversary in August. “Brilliant Bharat” was the theme of this edition of celebrations.
The B2B show, organized by GJEPC (Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council) India, saw the participation of more than 2,100 exhibitors, and welcomed over 50,000 visitors, coming from more than 60 countries in the world, and over 800 cities in India. Among precious stones, colors and unique and typical symbols of Indian culture, the fair with its 135,000 square meters of exhibition space was the venue of a meeting of art, creativity, and vision with international cultures.
Among the surprises that Mumbai had in store, there were many young Indian artists who expressed an innovative and contemporary point of view on the world of jewelry, telling stories of passion, energy, and a strong attachment to Indian cultural roots.
Among them T Girdharlal Jewelers, who presented a sonorous ring with a modern and minimal aesthetic; Veraki Jewels, the brand that showed a sophisticated transformable ring composed of three rings joined together; Shyne, with its ring inspired by flowers and the characteristic pink color of Jaipur; Aditya Designs, who showed us drawings created starting from the study of gems. Fine Finery Store presented a pair of earrings that reinterprets the Navaratna, a typical symbol of health, peace and prosperity. Jss Jewellerexhibited an exuberant necklace, with a typical taste of Indian tradition and perfect for Indian weddings. The silver brooch made by Minerva Fine Jewellery has a minimal and refined taste and is inspired by nature. Jewellery Design Manifacturers presented its creations for the first time in the Indian market, mixing Indian inspirations with American culture. Allotropes Fine Jewellery, with its emerald ring, confirmed a trend identified by Donna Jewel in Mumbai: emeralds and rubies are the most popular gemstones among young Indian designers!
